POPULATION OF ANKARA IN HISTORY
Ankara became the capital city of Turkey after the republic was declared. In the first years of the republic, Ankara was like a small town.
In 1927 the population was about 400 thousands and it was Turkey's 5th most populated city.
In 2022 (today) the population is about 5.7 millions and it is Turkey's 2nd most populated city.
As you can see, the population of Ankara has increased about 15 times in about 100 years.
